CXW | Alex Katz Closing Cocktail Party at GRAY at GRAY
Saturday, September 20, 2025, 5-6:30 PM
About the event
Celebrate the closing of Alex Katz's White Lotus exhibition at GRAY with an exhibition walkthrough and cocktail party!
White Lotus, bearing no relation to the HBO show, is a testament not only to the 98 year old artist's nonstop creative output, but also his status as one of the most groundbreaking American artists of both the 20th and 21st centuries.
Throughout his many years of relentless production, the artist has propelled American painting through his cool, flat depictions of figures and landscapes, and yet, he has also managed to avoid the pigeonholings of Pop, Realism, and Minimalism.
The gallery team will lead our group through the exhibition sharing context and anecdotes, afterwards EarlyWork and SCA members will mix and mingle with libations and bites. Weather permitting, GRAY's warehouse door will be open, allowing members to float in and out of the space.
Transportation to GRAY from EarlyWork's prior program at the MCA will be provided. Head to GRAY with the group, or meet us there!
